As a design researcher, I am investigating the creative potential that lies in the collaboration of the disciplines of health and design. In the context of health-related decision-making processes, key design criteria remain to be examined. Responsible design as such should take into account different levels of health literacy, different preferences and modes of perception and information processing (e.g., multisensory). With a practice-oriented approach of Research through Design I aim to contribute to cross-disciplinary work by tapping into undiscovered potential and exploring new ideas. The research findings may result in prototypes that can be implemented in practice to empower patients, facilitate doctor-patient interactions, avoid conflicts of interest in this regard and thus contribute to the process of informed consent.
